REPORTS TO:

  • Simulation Center Coordinator, School of Interprofessional Health and Safety Services

JOB SUMMARY:

This position uses state of the art, sophisticated medical simulation technologies including human patient simulation and clinical skills simulation. Works a flexible schedule to provide support to all simulation activities, faculty and staff which includes tours, evening, and Saturday sessions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Performs simulation session setup, delivery, and breakdown.
  • Effectively run scenarios as directed with faculty/staff.
  • Creates and applies moulage appropriate to the scenario.
  • Operates and supports all simulators and equipment safely.
  • Troubleshoots all equipment.
  • Reports all technical or program issues that arise.
  • Assists with tracking simulation efforts as they relate or organizational goals and quality improvement measures.
  • Maintains professional growth and development in healthcare and simulation.
  • Participates in community outreach programs, including promotional materials, conducting tours of the facilities, participating in public relations activities.
  • Restock rooms and cleans simulation equipment after each use.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty and staff from all SIHSS programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer knowledge in PC and software applications:  MS Word and Excel.
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of general human anatomy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast paced work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand operating instructions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.

PREFERENCES:

  • AAS or higher in related field including health care or technology.
  • Simulation technician/Sim Operations Specialist experience.
  • Current license or certification in health care or allied health fields.
  • Teaching experience

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Part-time position averaging less than 20 hours per week.  Anticipated hours will be two to six hours per day between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., two to five days per week (Monday through Friday) with an occasional Saturday morning.
