JOB SUMMARY:
This position maintains, develops, and modifies administrative and/or web software programs and assists users with software and processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Translates detailed specifications/functional requirements into structured applications programs.
- Maintains the integrity of data.
- Analyzes, reviews, and modifies programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
- Designs, codes, tests, implements, and debugs computer programs.
- Executes test plans and documents the results.
- Writes and maintains documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
- Writes user manuals to describe installation and operating procedures.
- Assists users with custom developed and purchased software and processes.
- Complies with logical and physical security policies, processes, and practices; recognizes non-compliance and notifies appropriate individuals.
- Actively participates in cross-training functions as both teacher and student.
- Provides assistance and backup for other staff when necessary.
- Communicates with team members about your primary work functions, especially where there is an overlap of duties.
- Expedites communication among system vendors and relevant staff on issues which require vendor input.
- Works extended hours such as early morning, evenings/nights and/or weekends as necessary at critical times and for system upgrades, or to provide technical staff coverage for essential services outside of traditional business hours.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-year degree in an information systems field and two years programming experience.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritize activities, meet deadlines, quickly diagnose problems, and provides clear resolution.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to providing quality service.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience with information systems in a 200+ user environment.
- Experience with Ellucian Products.
- Experience in post secondary education environment.
- Experience with SharePoint and other Microsoft products.
- Experience with multiple programming languages such as but not limited to Visual Basic/BV.net, HTML, JavaScript.
- Experience with databases such as MS SQL Services and MySQL.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
