JOB SUMMARY:

This is a part-time position coordinating and teaching non-credit/Iowa Law Enforcement Regional Academy law enforcement training including the development and scheduling of courses, program curriculum, providing reports, identifying and evaluating instructors, acquiring and maintaining equipment, and assisting with program marketing. Advises and provides leadership to students and maintains program standards and guidelines to meet the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy rules as per the Code of Iowa.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops, coordinates, and manages of the Iowa Law Enforcement Basic Level II academy.
  • Ensures high-quality classroom instruction and leadership to Iowa Law Enforcement Academy students.
  • Formulates and maintains curriculum for assigned courses.
  • Supervises and advises students.
  • Maintains cooperative relationships with the Dean, supervisors, other faculty, the Advisory Committee, all divisions of the College, prospective employers, and the community.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree and three years of work experience in law enforcement.
  • Hold or be eligible for such professional license appropriate to the discipline as required by the State of Iowa.
  • Experience with or commitment to various educational and training needs within the law enforcement community.
  • Demonstrates exemplary teamwork skills and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community.
  • Ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses and employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Must be knowledgeable of current national curricula, national accreditation, national registration, and the requirements for state certification/licensure.

PREFERENCES:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Law enforcement professional training experience.

REPORTS TO:

  • Dean, School of Interprofessional Health and Safety Services

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Part-time position with wages expected to be $20.00 per hour. Anticipated hours will be flexible up to 20 hours per week afternoon, evening, and occasional weekends.
