JOB SUMMARY: This individual assists the Associate Director in daily supervision of the Brock Student Center. Responsible for coordination of room reservations for the Brock Student Center. Develops and implements student life activities including educational, social, and family events. Coordinates, markets, and promotes student activities with Associate Director. Promotes and manages student clubs and organizations. Assists the Associate Director with brock Student Center activities and staffing when needed. Coordinates with the Associate Director in the development and coordination of a variety of student programs. Assists the Associate Director in the hiring, scheduling, and supervision of student workers and part-time staff in the Brock Student Center. Assists the Associate Director with the overall graduation process including student communication, ceremonies set up, decoration, and rehearsal. Oversees Student Leadership Council. Oversees Student Life Social Media to include; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and website. Represents the College with off campus housing and bus transportation. Promotes positive public relations featuring student activities, student clubs and organizations, and multicultural programming. Assists the Associate Director in the development and maintenance of Student Life publications and promotional materials. Co-sponsors student support activities including high school visits, health fairs, and diversity presentations. Participates in relevant community and statewide committees, and events as a representative of Hawkeye Community College. Performs other related work as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in leisure services, public relations, marketing, education, student services, or related field. Valid driver’s license. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Social Media. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to work with diverse populations, faculty, staff, and students. Positive attitude towards student life on a college campus. Ability to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends. Ability to provide excellent customer service and skill in public relations. Preferences include one year experience with college aged students, marketing, or events coordination; supervisory experience; and Community College education and/or work experience.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time twelve-month position with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution). Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
