JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for acting as back-up for Make-up Testing Center staff and performs functions of the Manager of Evaluation and Testing as necessary. Works with Manager to assure adequate office coverage. Tracks and reports on testing activities at our campus locations and high schools. Confers with test companies and CIS for troubleshooting. Acts as liaison for ACCUPLACER in high schools and outlying centers to include maintaining and monitoring ACCUPLACER. Conducts ACCUPLACER in high schools and other campus locations when necessary. Acts as liaison for CLEP and maintains CLEP materials. Prepares and revises assessment report/recommendations forms, testing brochures, and web page. Administers a variety of tests including but not limited to:  ACCUPLACER, CLEP, ACT, FAA, ASE, TEAS, VUE, Castle, and Dental Board exams. Interprets individual test results and maintains database records on a daily basis according to established agreements with test providers. Identifies students needing remediated and/or special services and makes recommendations. Advises students on programs Hawkeye Community College has to offer. Helps in career coaching and advises students’ progress toward, and their ability to, enter program of their choice. Connects with incoming students at orientation to make them aware of the services testing has to offer. Assists orientation and registration of liberal arts and pre-technical/pre-health students. Provides clear instructions to all test participants while the candidates are being assessed and makes sure candidates understand what is expected of them. Maintains test security at all times. Handles test inquiries and refers scheduling appointments. Exercises professional judgment when providing student account information according to FERPA and HIPPA regulations. Creates, collects, maintains and reports operational data for testing department. Delivers and secures on-line testing and paper/pencil testing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in education, business, communications, a behavioral science field such as social work community/family services, student affairs, psychology or related field, and one year applicable work experience in human services or education setting. Successfully complete proctor certifications or approvals as required by test providers. Working knowledge of and ability to administer and interpret various academic assessment tools. Must have the flexibility to work an occasional evening and/or one Saturday a month. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions. Proficiency using Microsoft Office and troubleshooting technical problems and communicating/relaying with CIS and tech support for testing companies. Ability to understand and access a variety of computer-based testing programs. Proven dedication to work assignments and exceptional quality of work. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and willingness to learn. Must understand and demonstrate an appreciation for confidential records and test security at all times. Assist with the development of K-12 partnership and initiatives. Ability to work with diverse groups, faculty, staff, students, and community members. Ability to create and maintain records and reports. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Preferences include a Master’s degree and working in postsecondary education, with testing/assessment.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full time twelve-month position with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).  Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.
