JOB SUMMARY:  Hawkeye Community students are prepared in a variety of settings including our on-site laboratory/clinical settings that are fully equipped to prepare them for patient care. This includes our multimillion dollar, state-of-the-art simulation center complete with Pyxis station, Docucare EMR system, IV simulators, and eight basic and advanced interactive patient simulators including adult, pediatric, neonatal, and maternal models.  This is a full-time position providing high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to the students of the Nursing Program.  Teaching assignments may include days and evenings, and various sites and formats (face-to-face, on-line, ICN).  A full-time teaching load of 15 credit hours per term is typical.  Necessary skills for this position include the ability to formulate and maintain curriculum for assigned courses, employ instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives, assess student progress on a regular basis, and provide progress reports as required.  Experience with or commitment to various instructional modalities such as computer-mediated instruction is essential.  Beyond instructional responsibility, this position requires advising and providing leadership to students.  This individual will be expected to demonstrate exemplary teamwork and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, the Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with progression toward a Master’s Degree in Nursing.  Must be a Registered Nurse with a current, unencumbered license in Iowa or Iowa eligible.  Three years of recent successful clinical experience in nursing.  Preferences include Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing; current CPR, First Aid, ACLS, PALS, and Mandatory Reporter certifications; and medical surgical, pediatric, obstetrics, or mental health nursing experience.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:  Nine-month contractual position beginning January of 2018.  Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience and will include a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; personal and sick leave; and a choice of retirement programs--IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).
