Job Summary
Hawkeye Community College’s Business and Community Education Division is looking for a full-time Marketing Strategist to join their team. As our Marketing Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in promoting Business and Community Education programs, including Healthcare, Trades, Transportation, Construction, Automation and Robotics, and more. Our primary goal is to create strategies that attract students and businesses to utilize the training opportunities provided by the Business and Community Education division at Hawkeye Community College.
Overall, you will be responsible for the planning, developing, and executing of marketing campaigns and promotional events to drive student enrollment and increase brand awareness. You will be utilizing mediums such as, but not limited to, social media, digital ads, brochures, flyers, publications, magazines, email communications, and websites. Work may include coordination with vendors, stakeholders, and college staff. Additionally, you will work closely with our Public Relations and Marketing team to ensure that promotional activities align with college branding and marketing policies.
Successful Marketing Strategists are creative thinkers with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of consumer behavior. The ability to work effectively/efficiently, take action/initiative in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously is critical. Excellent communication skills are essential for building relationships with internal and external teams, partners, and vendors.

Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Gains a comprehensive understanding of each Business and Community Education (BCE) program, including its unique features, target audience, and value proposition.

Develops and maintain consistent branding guidelines aligned with college standards.

Ensures all marketing materials adhere to the established brand identity.

Develops and implements strategic marketing plans to reach target audiences and achieve program objectives.

Leverages digital channels (social media, email campaigns, websites) to maximize program visibility and engagement.

Creates compelling content for various mediums, including brochures, flyers, publications, and digital platforms.
-
Coordinates catalog development and distribution, emphasizing program benefits and outcomes.

Analyzes market trends and consumer behavior to identify opportunities for promotions.

Monitors and evaluates the performance of marketing campaigns to optimize future strategies.

Coordinates marketing efforts for BCE events, workshops, and seminars.
-
Collaborates with event organizers to create promotional materials.
-
Ensures consistent branding across all event-related communications.

Works closely with program coordinators to understand the workings of each program.

Builds strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.

Participates in campus committees as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in marketing or related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, public relations, promotions, writing, and asset creation, or related field.

Demonstrated knowledge of understanding of marketing fundamentals and strategies.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, verbally and via written correspondence.

Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public.

Demonstrated excellent time management and organizational skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail to manage multiple and shifting tasks/demands to meet timely deadlines.

Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
Must be able to travel to and from meetings.

Demonstrated strong background in areas such as public relations, promotions, publication design, ad layout, business communications, and campaign planning.

Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.

Demonstrated knowledge of digital advertising design and specifications.

Demonstrated proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.

Ability to become familiar with the Cedar Valley and Hawkeye Community College’s service area and its local business landscape.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a community college setting.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience.

Knowledge of Colleague, Ellucian, Salesforce, Genoo, Lumens, Modern Campus, Lifelong Learning Workforce and Community, etc.
Working Conditions
Anticipated schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with potential for occasional evening and weekend hours.
Work is performed either in or a combination of an office/business setting and/or classroom setting using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
Employment Status
Full-time, exempt position with comprehensive or competitive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; tuition reimbursement; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).

The salary range for this position begins at $53,300.

Salary is commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience.
