Job Summary
Hawkeye Community College’s Adult Learning Center is looking for a part-time Proctor to join their team.
While working at the Adult Learning Center, you are helping make a meaningful impact on the everyday lives of their students. Students are empowered to get the education and skills they need to thrive at work, school, home and in their community all while earning their high school equivalency diploma or learning the English language.
Specifically, as our part-time Proctor, you will be working with students at the beginning and ending of their education journey as well at key milestones in between. You will be proctoring standardized assessments and various other tasks for the Adult Education and Literacy student enrollment and assessments for both the High School Completion and English Language Learning programs.

Essential Job Functions
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Serves as a proctor for in-person and remote test appointments. Tests will include but are not limited to HiSET, HiSET Official Practice Tests, CASAS, Accuplacer, and ALEKS.

Proctors computerized tests a majority of the time but proctors paper testing as well as needed.

Maintains proper testing certifications and proctors testing as back up.

Assists both native and non-native English speakers through the assessment process.

Travels to neighboring test and/or registration sites to provide proctoring services.

Provides testing accommodations to students as approved.

Assists students to create test appointments and create test taker accounts.

Assists students through the process of making connections for accommodation requests.

Enters in student testing information to maintain student test records.

Handles and safeguards confidential information in compliance with FERPA.

Provides one-on-one registration assistance for students in the ELL/HSC programs.

Reviews meticulous registration materials before submitting to the Registration Specialist.

Sells textbooks.

Provides backup student Registration and Informational Services at the One-Stop Center.

Answers the Assessment Center phone as needed.

Participates in campus committees as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy, regular on campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree.
-
Ability to travel to other Hawkeye test sites.

Must possess a current driver’s license valid in the State of Iowa and a driving record insurable by the College’s insurer.

Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.

Demonstrated ability to adhere to strict standardized assessment procedures and rules.

Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally and linguistically diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public.

Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication.
-
Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task effectively and complete detail-orientated tasks.

Completes proctor certifications within thirty (30) days from date of hire.

Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
Working Conditions
Sixteen (16) hours per week Tuesday – Friday with potential for occasional additional hours to be available. The anticipated schedule will be:

Tuesday - 8:45 am to 12:45 pm

Wednesdays - 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Thursdays - 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Fridays - 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
Work is performed either in or a combination of an office setting and/or classroom setting using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
Employment Status
Part-time, hourly position averaging sixteen (16) hours per week.
