Tonya is full-time faculty for Hawkeye’s Dental Assisting program and Program Director of the Dental Hygiene program at Allen College. She also has served as the Dental Administrative Chair and dental hygiene faculty at Hawkeye. Prior to that, she practiced in a clinic for 12 years.

Tonya has a Master’s in Education from Iowa State University, a Bachelor’s in Dental Hygiene from Northern Arizona University, an Associate in Applied Sciences-Dental Hygiene degree from Hawkeye, and a Certified Dental Assistant degree from Northeast Iowa Community College. She anticipates earning her Doctor in Education degree from Allen College in the near future.

Tonya lives in Independence with her husband, Dennis, and their three sons. She is passionate about preserving higher education of dental hygiene in Iowa and advocates for expanding the scope of practice in dental hygiene.
