Ryan Kurtz is a full-time Natural Resources Management instructor. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Conversation Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Northern Iowa.

Prior to coming to Hawkeye, Kurtz worked more than 10 years at a variety of natural resource and conversation organizations. Organizations include the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Rock County Parks Department, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Black Hawk County Conservation Board, Habitat Forever, and Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
