"One of the best decisions you can make in college is to attend each and every class."

I am a liberal arts advisor specializing in the emphasis areas of Business, Communications, English, Literature and Creative Writing, and Fine and Performing Arts. I chose a career in higher education because I like seeing students achieve their dreams. My favorite thing about Hawkeye is meeting with students, finding out what their goals are, and then figuring out the best courses and schedules to get them on the path toward those goals and graduation.

I attended Iowa Central Community College before transferring to Simpson College to complete my bachelor of arts degree. Since then I have completed my masters in education at Iowa State University.

As someone who graduated with an AA degree and then transferred to a four-year institution, I know the benefits of completing the first two years of college at an affordable price and in a helpful and friendly community college environment. I also know what it’s like to start fresh as a junior at a new school which is why I love working specifically with the liberal arts students who plan to complete their AA and transfer to another institution.

It’s exciting to work with the students in their last semester as they prepare for the next step, and while it’s sad to see them go, it’s a great feeling knowing they’re headed to their next college prepared to take on new challenges and accomplish great things.
