About Me

I have been a Cedar Falls native since 4th grade, although after college I lived on both coasts, first in New Jersey and then in San Diego. I currently live in Cedar Falls with my wife, Emily, and our son Rohan and daughter Annabel. My interests include camping, hiking, gaming, gardening, reading, and writing.

I have been teaching at Hawkeye Community College since 2002, starting in the Developmental Studies Department and tutoring in the Student Tutoring and Computer Lab. I branched into Communications classes in 2004, and in 2009 I began teaching at Des Moines Area Community College as well. At DMACC I taught Intro to Literature, Contemporary Literature, Science Fiction, and Detective Fiction in addition to Composition courses. In fall of 2012 I came on full-time to teach Communication classes for Hawkeye Community College and I served as the Faculty Instructional Coordinator for the College of Humanities and Fine Arts from 2013 to 2015. I currently serve on the College Experience committee as well as the Assessment Committee.
