This noncredit certificate program will give an introduction to the role of Patient Access/Registration/Front Desk and coding and billing in a healthcare setting. Students will learn medical terminology, basic computer skills, insurance, funding regulations, among other responsibilities of this role. The students will also learn how to recognize and utilize medical coding, healthcare safety, HIPAA, workplace skills and proper communication. The student will become certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider, OSHA/HIPAA. A clinical simulation will be done at the end of the class to help prepare the student for the workforce. The student will be required to do a four-hour job shadow during the course of the program. Books are included in the cost of this program.
