Hawkeye Community College's Skid Steer Training will provide students with knowledge of the various functions of skid steers. Students will gain basic terminology, pre-operation inspections, proper operation techniques and the different functions of a skid steer. Training will consist of in-person classroom training, using NCCER (The National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum. Following the NCCER training, students will be required to pass a written examination. Excavator simulators will be used for control familiarization. Field operations of a skid steer will also be evaluated. Field operations must be passed in order to receive credentials from NCCER and Hawkeye Community College. Student will need to register in the NCCER system in order to obtain credentials from NCCER.
