This intensive American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) Medical Coding Training Course will teach the students the fundamentals of medical coding skills for physician-based coding and prepares the student to take AAPC's CPC Exam. The course covers CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding as they apply to these healthcare settings. A minimum of 80 hours of coding instruction will be provided by a certified AAPC instructor. All textbooks/e-books, an AAPC student membership, practice exam, CPC Certification Exam, and a Practicode CPC-A Practicum are included in this course.  As a prerequisite to participate in the coding instruction in the course, all students will be given access to the AAPC Medical Terminology (40-hours) & AAPC Anatomy (40-hours) online modules on 11/1/21. Both online modules must successfully be completed prior to starting the coding portion of the course that begins on 11/29/21. If the student does not pass both online modules by this time, they will be dropped from the course.  The AAPC CPC Certification Exam will be held at Hawkeye Community College on 3/26/22. The certification exam may be re-taken one time if it is not passed on the first attempt. Frequently Asked Questions
