This intensive AAPC course will teach principles of medical coding related to the three main codebooks: CPT, ICD-10-CM Code Set and HCPCS. This course is for anyone who is preparing for a career in medical coding for a physician's office. A foundation in medical terminology and anatomy will be taught online with modules that are 40 hours each. Access to online modules will be given on 1/25/2021. 80 hours of classroom instruction will be provided on coding by a certified AAPC instructor. Classroom sessions begin on 2/22/2021. Books, AAPC student membership, the CPC Certification Exam, and an AAPC Practicum are included in this course. The Practicum is comprised of 600 medical records to be coded, which allows an individual to complete the equivalent of 1-year professional coding experience. Successful completion of the practicum allows the student to enter the workforce as a credentialed CPC, without having an apprentice designation as typically required before work experience obtained. High school or equivalent degree required. Frequently Asked Questions
