Fulfills requirements for individuals to administer non-parenteral medication in long-term care and RCF facilities (15 beds and larger). A 10- to 20-hour practicum will be completed in the facility of student's employment under the direction of a registered nurse within six months of beginning class. Must meet State of Iowa prerequisites, including, If employed in a certified nursing facility, must be employed for at least six months by the facility, must be eligible on the Iowa Nurse Aide Registry, and facility administrator must recommend the student for the course. If employed in a residential or related type of agency licensed by DIA, the student required to provide a recommendation from the administrator in the facility where employed. All students must identify the RN who will be supervising their practicum. Textbooks are included in the class fee.
