This American Heart Association (AHA) course is designed for persons who wish to become CPR instructors for Healthcare Provider and Heartsaver courses. You must have a current AHA provider status in the discipline for that Instructor Course, and be proficient in all the skills of that profession. An Instructor Candidate Application will be completed in class. Upon completion of the course, instructors can teach the BLS Provider Course, the HeartCode BLS Hands-On Session, and any course within the Heartsaver portfolio. Certification is good for two years and requires at least four courses to be taught in the two-year period. The student must successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course prior to the start of this class. The BLS Instructor Essentials Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning BLS Provider courses. This can be purchased here:  https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-essentials-online  Please print and bring your certificate of completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course, 1 letter of recommendation, and a current copy of your BLS card. You will not be allowed to attend the class without these documents.
