The purpose of this course is to prepare individuals to safely administer or supervise self-administration of non-parenteral medications in a Residential Care Facility of 15 or fewer beds, and Assisted Living Program, or other community-based settings such as Supervised Apartment Living or Supported Community Living Arrangements. The Prepare to Care Core Module will be offered at the beginning of the course. All participants must satisfactorily complete the Core Module prior to progressing on to the Medication Manager Course. Students can access the Core Module by visiting https://directcare.training-source.org/ Individuals who have completed the Core Module previously, may present their Core Certificate of Completion to be excused from these hours if they choose. This class will be completed asynchronous online, therefore students do not attend class at a set time. On the last day of the course, the student will meet in person at Hawkeye Community College from 8:00am-12:30pm to complete the laboratory/clinical hours and for final State Testing.
