The Hawkeye Community College Board of Trustees is currently taking applications for student representatives.
The Board will select one student representative enrolled in a career technical program and one student representative enrolled in a liberal arts transfer program.
Student representatives will ideally serve for one year, however, students enrolled in a training program where completion is obtained in one year or less will also be considered.
The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month (excluding December) at 6:00pm.

Eligibility Requirements

Be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours each semester.

Have completed a minimum of 6 credit hours at Hawkeye Community College.

Have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better.

Maintain good academic and disciplinary conduct.

Concurrent students enrolled in high school and regular full-time or part-time employees (excluding work-study) are not eligible
Student Roles and Responsibilities

Student representatives will be full-fledged members of the Board with the exception of having voting rights and access to non-public executive sessions or materials.

Attend Hawkeye Community College Board of Trustees monthly meetings and participate in discussions.

Provide a student perspective on all issues facing the Board. It is not to be an
advocate for one issue only.

Attend a Board orientation session prior to the first Board meeting.

Act as a liaison between the student body you are representing, either Liberal Arts or Career Technical programs, and the Board, providing a brief update at every meeting (assistance will be provided).

Communicate regularly with the Vice President of Student Affairs and Institutional Diversity. (At least once a month, one week prior to Board meeting)
