High School Completion Program

High School Equivalency Diploma and Transcripts

Your length of study depends on your initial skill level, how often you attend class, and how quickly you master the material.

High School Equivalency Diploma

When you have completed the High School Completion program and successfully passed the HiSET tests, you will earn a High School Equivalency diploma. You can participate in the graduation ceremony held every June.

You will receive your diploma when ...

  • you are 18 years old
  • your high school class (class you started the ninth grade with) has graduated

If you complete HiSET testing before this, your scores will be kept until you are eligible for graduation.

The High School Equivalency Diploma is the same diploma issued previously upon completion of GED testing.

Transcripts

You must contact the Iowa Department of Education and request your transcript in writing using the High School Equivalency Diploma Document Request Form [pdf].
