• Graduate Spotlight – Charmin Anderson

  Perhaps no one is more excited about Charmin Anderon's graduation than her two sons. “My oldest is really excited for graduation,” she said. “He's helped me pick out some outfits for me to wear.” The Waterloo native worked in healthcare for five years before coming to Hawkeye. When she wanted to further her education, it was the loss of her grandmother to COPD that helped steer Charmin toward a career where she felt she could make a difference: Respiratory Care.

• Hawkeye Gives High Schoolers Dramatic Introduction to Health Careers

  It was a dramatic, hands-on approach to introduce the students to health careers they can train for at the college. They followed the two victims of the crash, “Johnny” and “Chester,” during the morning-long event as they were helped by paramedics, respiratory therapists, nurses, medical lab technicians, occupational and physical therapists, and dental professionals.
