Successfully Navigate Graduation

The weather is improving, which means one thing is for certain: graduation is near. In about 6 weeks, your student will be a college graduate! Congratulations! This is a very exciting time in your student’s life. Post Hawkeye Community College plans can include entering the work force or transferring to another school to finish a 4-year degree. Even though your student is officially a college graduate, you can still help them be successful adults. Did you know your student needs to complete an exit loan session? There are many different types of loans and it is important for your student whether graduating or transferring to understand the requirements of the loan.

You can also help your student by making sure their resume is prepared. It is always helpful to have a second opinion and some one to proof read. Remind your student if they won’t let you look at it to visit the Career Service Center. The staff is trained to perfect resumes and help your student land their dream job.

With the change of season, comes change is in your student’s life. Continue to provide guidance and support as they make this transition and let them know, Hawkeye is always here for help along the way!
