Letter from the President-How to Help Your Student Succeed
posted on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in
Dear Hawkeye Parents,
Happy New Year! Our faculty and staff are committed to helping students navigate through their educational journey – because every student matters to us! Sometimes that involves working through issues that might create barriers to student success. We have a variety of resources available outside of the classroom to help students succeed. I invite you to encourage your son/daughter to ask questions and take advantage of the services that are available. Examples of services available include the following: Academic Advising, Tutoring Services, Career Services, Make-Up Testing, Military and Veteran Services, Child Care, Student Health Clinic, Student Disability Services, and more.
In addition, Hawkeye Community College recently added Student Success Specialists who are an invaluable resource to help students succeed. They can answer questions and help students find needed services on campus and in the community. If your son or daughter needs assistance with academic support areas such as study skills, test taking, tutoring, or advising, or with crisis intervention or referrals to community resources, these professionals are here to serve!
A full listing of services and related information is on Hawkeye’s website at http://www.hawkeyecollege.edu/students/services/default.aspx. Spring classes begin on Monday, January 14!
And, as always, thank you for your support of Hawkeye Community College.
Linda Allen, Ph.D.
