Lazy Hazy Days of Summer and Your Student

Summer is in full swing! We hope your student is active and enjoying the warm weather. As your student prepares to return or start college, encourage them to be active on campus this year. Hawkeye Community College offers over 25 active clubs and organizations both on and off campus. The clubs and organizations provide your student with opportunities to meet new people, broaden their horizons, network with people in their desired field of interest, as well as build skills needed to obtain their dream job. Student Ambassadors and Student Leadership Council, in particular, are paid organizations and are recruiting now. Applications and more information can be found online.

Even if your student doesn’t have time for clubs and organizations, remind them about the bike share program. Take advantage of all the trails the Cedar Valley boasts. A valid student ID is all that is needed. Bikes can be rented for up to 7 days and a helmet and lock are included! The HESC is also open and the outdoor fit ground is a perfect way to work on functional fitness and change up a routine in a challenging way. Hawkeye Community College is a great campus during the slower summer months. Remind your student of all the perfect summer offerings here if they are bored, and we cannot wait to see them in the fall.
