Fun in the Sun

posted on Sunday, March 1, 2020 in  Parent Newsletter

The weather certainly doesn’t feel like spring, but Spring Break is right around the corner! Many college students use their week off to visit tropical locations and take a break from all of this Iowa winter weather. Spring Break trips can create some of the best college memories, but it is important to remind your student how to be safe and responsible while visiting a foreign city. Remind your student how important the buddy system is and never leave a location alone. It may seem like repetitive information, but even if your student brushes you and your solid advice off, they are still listening.

While you’re lecturing throw in advice about sunscreen too! This time of year the sun is extremely song in many southern states and after a hiatus, skin burns happen quickly. The skin is the largest organ and needs a layer of protection every 3 to 4 hours. Nothing ruins a vacation quite like a sunburn the very first day. Remind your student, it is a marathon, not a sprint. We hope your student has a great Spring Break, and hopefully with some loving parenting guidance, it will be a safe, fun, and memorable one!
