Hawkeye Community College to Host World Food Prize Northeast Iowa Youth Institute

WATERLOO–Hawkeye Community College will host the World Food Prize Northeast Iowa Youth Institute on Thursday, February 15, beginning at 9:00am in Tama Hall on Hawkeye’s Main Campus, 1501 E. Orange Road, Waterloo.

The Northeast Iowa Youth Institute gives students the opportunity to explore hunger-fighting career paths in technology, agriculture, international business, veterinary medicine, and much more. Teachers and their students will engage in interactive activities on Hawkeye's campus and explore research and work currently taking place in Iowa to address global challenges.

Attendees will also participate in a hands-on service learning project to benefit the Northeast Iowa Food Bank BackPack program.

Students who participate for the entire day will be entered to win a $500 scholarship to Hawkeye Community College. Students can register online at www.worldfoodprize.org/neiowa. Registration deadline is February 8.
