Hawkeye Community College to Host Transportation Careers Open House on March 2

posted on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in  College News

WATERLOO–Hawkeye Community College will hold an open house showcasing transportation careers on Saturday, March 2, from 9:00am-12:00pm at Hawkeye’s Regional Transportation Training Center, 6433 Hammond Ave, Waterloo.

Truck drivers are in demand and the need for drivers is expected to increase over the next several years. Iowa Workforce Development projects more than 1,300 openings each year for truck drivers in Iowa through the year 2024. Hawkeye’s six-week Class A CDL training program has a career placement rate of 98% (per 2017 Professional Truck Driver Institute reporting). Commercial truck driving is a great paying career with excellent opportunities. Graduates can find employment in a variety of careers, including as truck drivers, spotters, shag drivers, and freight agents.

The open house is an opportunity to meet instructors, tour training facilities, and learn about programs to assist qualifying individuals with paying for some or all of their training. For more information, call 319-296-4286 or visit www.hawkeyecollege.edu/transportation-open-house.
