WATERLOO–The Cedar Valley Walleye Club has established a scholarship with the Hawkeye Community College Foundation to support a second-year student in the Natural Resources Management program.

The Cedar Valley Walleye Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the fisheries of the Cedar Valley and fostering kids interest in fishing. Established in 2003, the club annually stocks area lakes with walleye and provides assistance to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on various projects.

"We feel that it is important to support Natural Resources Management students as they prepare for careers that maintain and improve our outdoors,” said Tim Ahrens, president of the Cedar Valley Walleye Club. “This scholarship is another way our club can continue giving back to the community."

Through donor support, the Hawkeye Community College Foundation awarded more than $335,000 in scholarships in 2018-2019.
