Each year the national American Advertising Federation holds a student and professional competition called the American Advertising Awards (formerly called the Addys). The competition starts with a local chapter event with winners being able to move to regionals and then on to the national level.

This year the American Advertising Federation Cedar Valley’s panel of three judges presented awards to two Hawkeye Community College students now in their fourth term in the Graphic Communications program.

On Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Waterloo Elk’s Club, Kendalle Alquqaie was presented a Silver Award in the Elements of Advertising—Illustration category for her illustration Criminal Mind.

Erin Randall won two Silver Awards, one in the Elements of Advertising—Logo category for her Cameron’s Clothing Company Logo, and the second in the Collateral Material—Stationary Package category for her Cameron’s Clothing Company Stationary.
