Cedar Valley IowaWORKS Offers Free Classes to Non-English Speakers Who Need Improvement with English Skills

WATERLOO—Cedar Valley IowaWORKS is offering free classes for non-English speakers. Participants will learn English to communicate in their everyday lives. This could help those pursue a job or better employment, as well as help their children succeed in school. “English Café” classes are an excellent way for non-English speakers to improve their conversational English, as well as words used in the workplace.
English Café classes are offered in the months of June, July, and August at the Cedar Valley Iowa Works, located at 3420 University Avenue in Waterloo. The first class will be on June 27. Classes will be offered again July 1, 7, 10, 17, 18, 21, 25, and 31. August dates include 1, 4, 5, 14, 15, 21, and 22. All classes are held from 10:00 a.m. – noon.

Cedar Valley IowaWORKS Center has a wide variety of free workshops that anyone can attend after registering, including Basic Computer, Applications, Customer Service, Employer Panel, Positive Outlook, Resume, Job Search, National Career Readiness Certificate, Interview and Negotiate, and many more.
