Parent's Guide to Planning for College
Choosing a college can be one of the most difficult decisions a student will have to make. Be supportive and help your student set goals and plan for the future.
Talk to Your Student About College Costs
Agree on a budget for who’s going to cover the expenses.
Attend high school financial aid night, if available. If your high school does not offer one, contact the Financial Aid office for more information.
Apply for financial aid and scholarships.

Accepted! What's Next?
Once accepted, students can log-in to their My Hawkeye account. My Hawkeye is Hawkeye's student portal. It is also where your student will access their Hawkeye email.
Remind your student to sign up for a Mandatory Orientation and Registration Experience (MORE). Students will receive information about MORE, including how to sign up for a session, in their Hawkeye student email.
Finalize financial aid, if needed.
Help your student finalize housing.
