Services for Students

Hawkeye provides a wide range of services to help you succeed. Below is a brief list of the many services offered at Hawkeye.

Academic Advising

You’ll work with your faculty advisor to choose classes and review your progress. Academic/College Success Advisors can also help you clarify goals, learn about careers, and discuss strategies for success.

Tutoring Services

Hawkeye tutors can help with anything from note taking to test preparation to writing skills. We can even help you pick up the computer skills you’ll need in class. All tutoring is free, whether you work with a tutor in person or use our 24-hour online tutoring system.

Career Advising

Prepare for the school-to-work transition early by working with Career Advising. They’ll help you with resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and career decision making. Career Advising also maintains job boards for opportunities both on campus and with area employers.

Testing Center

The Testing Center is for Hawkeye students who are unable to take an exam during their scheduled class time and have made arrangements with their instructor. Additionally, students with accommodations may take their exams through the Testing Center.

Military and Veteran Services

Hawkeye’s Military and Veterans Services office assists with VA education benefits and helps military and veteran students and their families obtain and complete forms, research scholarship availability, and connect with career opportunities.

Child Care

The Hawkeye Child Development Center is an accredited, licensed program for children ages 18 months to five years. The Child Development Center offers students a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for their children. Some students are eligible for additional grant funds to cover child care expenses.

Student Health Clinic

Whether you’re sick, managing a chronic health condition, or working toward a healthier lifestyle, Hawkeye’s Student Health Clinic can help. Our staff includes an advanced nurse practitioner and a professional school counselor. All students are eligible, and dependent children of students may use the Student Health Clinic. Health insurance is not required to receive care and fees for services are minimal or no cost.

Student Accessibility Services

Hawkeye is committed to helping all qualified students succeed, including those with disabilities. The Student Accessibility Services coordinator helps students determine their eligibility and, if appropriate, access the services that will best support their educational goals. In addition, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services works with individuals with disabilities who want to become employed. Eligible students can receive services such as tutoring, counseling, and assistive technologies.
