Students must complete BOTH BIO-112 and BIO-113 at Hawkeye to receive credit for BIOL:1402 (002:010) and BIOL:1502 (002:011) at the University of Iowa. While this Biology sequence has been approved to satisfy BIOL:1402 (002:010) and BIOL:1502 (002:011) for all pre-professional and related science programs, students choosing to major specifically in Biology at IOWA will meet individually with the Department advisor to determine preparation before advancing to higher level Biology courses.

Students who need to complete preparatory work in mathematics may wish to complete extra electives at Hawkeye due to the transfer of lower level Algebra classes. Students will not receive credit for MAT-102 Intermediate Algebra towards graduation at the University of Iowa.

Note: If a student starts a math or science sequence, it is strongly recommended to complete the sequence at the same college. Whenever possible, math and science sequences should not be split between two different colleges.

Foreign Language Requirement

Students who have completed the AA degree from Hawkeye will have completed all general education requirements with the exception of the Foreign Language requirement.

Students must meet fourth level proficiency in a single foreign language. This can be met through four years of high school, four semesters of college, or any appropriate combination of the two. Students transferring without the AA degree typically will need to have second level proficiency completed just to be admitted. Courses offered at Hawkeye that can be taken to meet a portion of the requirement:
