Upon receiving their final grade, students may choose to request to change the grade to “P” Pass or “Q” Non Pass. Requests must be made by May 31, 2020.

Considerations for Pass/Non Pass Grade

  • Students should visit with their academic advisor or academic/college success advisor before  a "P" Pass grade is determined if this is the best option for their academic program.

  • Some programs may require course letter grades for admission criteria, certification, and/or accreditation.

  • Some courses require a letter grade in order to enroll in advance courses.

  • “P” Pass grades count towards credits earned and graduation requirements.

  • “P” Pass grades are not calculated in semester grade point average, cumulative grade point average, or Dean’s List.

  • Students must earn a D- or higher grade based on the grading scale in the course syllabus to receive a “P” Pass grade.

  • Transcripts will include a designation indicating the extenuating circumstances of the Spring 2020 semester.

Transferring “P” Pass Course Credits

  • The University of Northern Iowa, University of Iowa, and Iowa State University will accept “P” Pass course grades from the Spring 2020 term.

  • Students planning to attend a private college/university or out-of-state institution are encouraged to consult with their institution on acceptance of transfer credit courses with “P” Pass grade.

  • Student-athletes are encouraged to check with their transfer institution about credit acceptance and eligibility when considering “P” Pass option.
