2019 Summer CNA

Hawkeye Community College is excited to offer a FREE CNA class to high school students during the Summer 2019 semester!

This course is open to students who will be in 11th and 12th grade during the 2019–2020 school year.

An Iowa Department of Education grant will pay the entire cost of the course, including tuition, fees, supplies, and the Nurse Aide Competency Exam.

Lecture: 8:00am–1:45pm
Lab: Start times vary; end by 1:45pm

The first week of lectures, June 3–7, will be entirely online.
The first day of face-to-face class will be June 10 or 11.

Registration Details

Check with your school counselor to confirm that your school is participating in this program.

Registration opens Monday, April 1, 2019
Priority Deadline is Monday, April 15, 2019

Seats are limited. Students must complete the entire registration process (including orientation and background checks) before the priority deadline to be guaranteed a seat.

To Register:

  1. Login to submit an Intent to Register online.
  2. Select “Summer CNA” as the Course Location.
  3. Select the section you want from the list.
  4. Review the selected course.
  5. Submit your Intent to Register.

After submitting an Intent to Register, students will be sent information about the next step, including instructions for completing Nurse Aide Orientation [pdf] and background checks [pdf].
