Interactive Speakers

Interactive guest speakers are business professionals who join students in the classroom to showcase careers in a hands-on format.

Students will experience of a variety of careers that they may or may not have considered. They have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities that demonstrate skills necessary for the careers. Counselors, contact your work-based learning coordinator to request a guest speaker for your school.

Business partners have the opportunity to highlight their business and careers. They teach students about careers in their industry while engaging with them in with hands-on activities. To share your business and your knowledge about an industry and its careers with students, contact a work-based learning coordinator.

Job Shadow Opportunities

Job shadowing allows students to explore career paths while spending time with a professional currently working in a specific industry.

Students will experience the work environment and day-to-day activities of the jobs they shadow. They will also learn about the skills and education needed for the job. Contact your work-based learning coordinator to assist in scheduling a job shadowing opportunity.

Business partners, have an opportunity to open their business to a potential future employee and share with them the ins and outs of a career in your industry. Engage the student in a professional environment and emphasize employability skills such as attendance, attire, and punctuality. To host a student for a job shadow opportunity at your business, contact a work-based learning coordinator.

Worksite Tours

Worksite tours are an excellent way for students to get a first-hand look at local businesses and experience the careers available.

Students will have the opportunity to see a variety of careers available at the business and learn what education and training is required to achieve those careers. Students will also learn workplace skills including business etiquette, attire, and attendance. Counselors, contact your work-based learning coordinator to request a worksite tour for your school.

Business partners, you and your employees will share the day-to-day operations of the business and engage the students with questions and in conversation to help them explore the careers and workplace. To share your business and industry with students, contact a work-based learning coordinator.
