EMC²—Exploring Manufacturing Careers Consortium

EMC² (Exploring Manufacturing Career Consortium) gives you a chance to explore a high-demand career in CNC machining and tool-making while earning college credit before you graduate from high school! CNC is one of the most demanded skills in our communities. Those who complete training in CNC can earn starting wages of $13–$18 per hour* depending on their skills.

Career Opportunities

Your career opportunities may include, but are not limited to:

  • CNC operator
  • CNC machinist
  • CNC programmer

What Does EMC² Do for You?

  • Earn up to 13 college credits toward your college degree. Approximately a $2,200 value!
  • Receive a $300 stipend each summer of your junior and senior years.
  • Receive a $600 Hawkeye tuition scholarship with successful program completion.
  • Seniors receive a tool kit valued at approximately a $400.

Program Costs

  • Cedar Valley businesses and your school district pays for your courses and provides the textbooks.
  • You are responsible for transportation costs to the course location.
  • You are responsible for any supplies, field trips, and activities outside the classroom.

Who can participate?

  • Any 11th grade student who meets the requirements.
  • Students who are able to travel to an internship site and Hawkeye's Main Campus.
