Accessing and Starting Your Online Course

Your course will be available on the first day of class and you will need to log-in to your course(s) by the end of the third day of class (first day preferred).

  1. Go to and bookmark My Hawkeye.

  2. Enter your Hawkeye username and password.

  3. Once you are logged in to My Hawkeye, click on the Canvas icon on the right hand side of the page. Your courses will be listed here.

  4. Look for the "Simple Syllabus" tab in your online course, and read through the syllabus thoroughly for instructor contact information, important course information, and assignments.

    Check for course policies and guidelines set by the instructor. Make sure you understand them, if not, contact your instructor for clarification. Be sure to follow the course policies and guidelines throughout the course.

    Check to see if you need to access or install any software applications that will be used during your online course.

  5. If you have questions about how to use Canvas, Hawkeye's learning management system, click on the Help (?) icon on the left-hand side of the navigation panel for Canvas 24/7 Support options and the Student Orientation.

Not attending class is not considered a form of withdrawal and you will still be responsible for paying the tuition and fees for those courses. Non-attendance may affect your financial aid.
