SPC-101 Fundamentals of Oral Communication

3 credits—This course introduces students to the oral communication process and how it affects human interaction There will be an emphasis on developing interpersonal, small group, and public speaking skills. Students will be involved in activities that provide opportunity for the understanding and improvement of their oral communication skills.

SPC-120 Intercultural Communications

3 credits—Intercultural Communication explores basic principles and theories of intercultural communication with opportunities to gain communication competence through immersion experiences and cross-cultural interactions.

SPC-122 Interpersonal Communication

3 credits—Interpersonal Communication applies communication theories and concepts to real world friendships, romantic partnerships, families and workplace relationships. The course focuses on improving interpersonal skills and increasing communication competence.

3 credits—This course focuses on the principles, theories, and processes of small group communication. The primary goal of this course is for students to apply content to group communication situations to function more effectively.

3 credits—This course will explore literature through performance. Students will learn to select, analyze, interpret and perform literature of various types using vocal and physical techniques.

1 credits—This course involves in-depth independent research on an approved topic under supervision of a faculty member. SPC-928 Independent Study

1 credits—This course provides students with an opportunity to pursue or investigate a topic of interest that does not fit within the framework of regular course offerings. Course can be taken for 1–3 credits.

SPC-949 Special Topics

1 credits—Special Topics expands the curriculum by allowing students to enroll for up to three credits in a specific course or program area. This course may not duplicate another one already in the catalog. This course may be repeated for credit with different content. This course can be taken for 1–3.
