Achievement Scholarship

The Hawkeye Community College Achievement Scholarship is awarded to 80 graduating high school seniors. Each scholarship award is worth $1000.

As a bonus, if you took six or more college credits while in high school you may be eligible for a $2000 award.

Eligibility
  • Current year high school graduate.

  • Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5.

  • Participated in leadership, volunteer, and/or extra curricular activities while in high school.

  • Accepted for admission to Hawkeye by April 1.

  • Enrolled full-time at Hawkeye by August 1.

To Apply
  1. Complete the general Hawkeye Scholarship Application if you have not done so already.

  2. Write a short 200-500 word essay which must include:

    • your name, high school, and Hawkeye student ID number (if you have one) so we can match your essay to your Hawkeye scholarship application.

    • your high school cumulative GPA and your college cumulative GPA if applicable.

    • the college classes you took while in high school if applicable.

    • how you have demonstrated leadership and volunteerism through the activities you have participated in during your high school career (200-500 words).

  3. Proofread your essay carefully. Essays are critiqued on length, grammatical accuracy, and relevance of content.

  4. Email your completed essay to achievement.scholarship@hawkeyecollege.edu by March 1.
