Accepting or Rejecting Awarded Funds

By accepting your financial aid award from Hawkeye, you are agreeing to the following:

1. You have read and understand the information:
   

   • in the Financial Aid Handbook

   • in the email we sent you to notify you that your award is ready to view in My Hawkeye

   • on the Federal Direct Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) if you have been awarded and have accepted Federal Direct Stafford Loans

   • on the Student Loan Game Plan

   • on any other enclosures included in your award notification

2. You authorize Hawkeye to use your financial aid to pay your tuition, fees, and miscellaneous charges unless you contact the Business Services office via email from your Hawkeye email address or in writing.

Federal Direct Stafford Loans

If you have been awarded Federal Direct Stafford Loans, you will need to accept or reject them through My Hawkeye.

1. Accept or reject Federal Direct Stafford Loans in My Hawkeye > My WebAdvisor (SOAR) > Financial Aid > Accept/Reject Federal Loans.

   When you accept your Financial Aid Award you agree to the terms listed above.

2. Complete a Partial Loan Request form if you:
   • do not wish to borrow the full loan amount awarded
   • will be a December graduate

3. First time borrowing a Federal Direct Stafford Loan? Complete a Federal Direct Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN).

   • you will be completing the Master Promissory Note for subsidized/unsubsidized loan.

   • you will need your FAFSA PIN to access the website.

   • you will need two references to complete the Master Promissory Note.

4. First time receiving a Federal Direct Stafford Loan at Hawkeye? Complete the Student Loan Game Plan and an Entrance Counseling session.

   • When completing the Entrance Counseling session choose "I am an undergraduate student"

5. First time receiving a Direct Loan at Hawkeye? Complete your Student Loan Game Plan.

6. Before your Federal Direct Stafford Loan(s) will be disbursed, you need to be enrolled in and attending at least six credit hours.

You can cancel all of or a portion of any Federal Direct Stafford Loan within thirty days after the date we notify you that your loan has been disbursed. The Business Services office will email your Hawkeye email address when your loans have been disbursed.

Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships and grants are automatically accepted upon awarding.

Work-Study

Work-Study funds are accepted once you have been hired for a work-study position and have completed the Work-Study Orientation.
