Grade Forgiveness/Fresh Start Program
The Fresh Start program is designed for students who want to change their program of study after receiving unsatisfactory grades in a previous program(s) (GPA below 2.00) at Hawkeye Community College. This program allows you to begin a new cumulative GPA from the beginning of the new program. The Fresh Start program is a one-time option. You do not qualify if you have graduated from a program. The Fresh Start Program will begin phasing out with the Spring 2012 end of term. To apply for the Fresh Start program during the phase out process, you must have the minimum of 12 hours completed in a new program by the end of the Spring 2012 term. The student must also meet all of the current requirements. Students must complete the Fresh Start application process by December 14, 2012. After you complete 12 credit hours in the new program at Hawkeye Community College with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better and have met with a counselor, you may file a petition for the Fresh Start program with the Student Records and Registration office. All coursework completed before your Fresh Start day will appear on your academic record, but will not be counted towards your new cumulative GPA. Passing grades will be changed to a grade of P. Grades of F will be changed to a grade of O. This may impact the ability to transfer these courses to another college. The Fresh Start program is cancelled if you return to your original program of study. Fresh Start students are not eligible to graduate with honors. College Catalog | Student Handbook | Next Page > |
