Student Senate
The Hawkeye Community College Student Senate is a student-run organization that works to promote the welfare of the entire student body by giving you a voice on campus. The members of the Student Senate pledge their commitment, leadership, and collaboration to embrace diversity within the college and community. The Student Senate also assists in providing educational, cultural, recreational, and social activities throughout the school year. Student Senate MissionThe mission of the Student Senate is consistent with the mission of Hawkeye Community College. In addition, Student Senate is in place to be the voice of the student body and will listen to all student concerns or comments. Activities and Events - Legislative Conference

- family events including Halloween, Holiday, and Spring parties for children
- Fall Festival

- local sporting events
Campus ContributionsStudent Senate allocates funds to make improvements on campus including: - Wellness Room updates
- funding for active campus clubs
- installation of microwaves on campus for students
- furnishing of study areas in Black Hawk Hall and Grundy Hall
Meetings and ActivitiesMeetings are held twice a month. Meeting times and days are determined at the beginning of each semester by the committee. Every member is put on a committee. Committees meet once a month. Student Senate Events – Spring 2012Student Senate QualificationsThere are 35 seats available for eligible members. If more students are interested, a vote by the student body will determine who is elected. Student Senate members must: - be enrolled at Hawkeye
- maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA or better
