Clubs and Organizations

Hawkeye clubs/organizations are student-driven with a faculty or staff member as an advisor.

We encourage you to get involved in a club/organization that interests you, or to start a club/organization we don't currently have!

Art & Literature, Etc.: Special interest club for students interested in having their art and literature published and gets students involved in the publishing process.
BASIC - Brothers and Sisters in Christ: Christian club. Members have gatherings and work closely with the BASIC group from UNI.
Chorus Club: Whether you a trained singer or just starting out, any full or part-time Hawkeye student can join the Chorus Club.
Cross Country Club: Sports club that competes against other college, university, and club teams.
Dance Team: Sports club that choreographs dances and competes in Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Pom.
Drama Club: Special interest club for students interested in performing in or working behind the scenes in two theater productions.
Education Club: Special interest club for education and child development students. To learn more, contact club advisor Catharine Freeman.
Hawkeye Democrats: Governmental club. Members work with local and national Democratic groups and organizations. To learn more, contact club advisor Quentin Hart.
Hawkeye Gamers Club: Special interest club. Members play group computer games.
Horticulture Club: Club for students interested in horticulture. To learn more, contact club advisor Dan Lichty.
International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP): Special interest organization for all administrative professional students.
Latin American Student Organization (LASO): Diversity club that works to raise awareness of the diversity of Latin American students at Hawkeye Community College and the Cedar Valley.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Allies (LGBTA) Club: Special interest club for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allies. This is a safe zone. To learn more, contact club advisor Carol Hedberg.
Multicultural Student Organization: Diversity club that works to raise awareness of the diversity of Hawkeye Community College and the Cedar Valley.
Natural Resources Club: Focus on outdoor studies involving the environment.

Non-Traditional Student Organization: Eligible members need to be a current Hawkeye student and in one or more of the following categories:

  • age 25 and over
  • have children
  • taking classes part-time (6 hours or less)
  • a student who didn't come directly from high school

Phi Theta Kappa: Academic honor society. You must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. They offer leadership skills, fellowship, and scholarships.
Photography Club: Club for students interested in photography and photojournalism.
Occupational Therapy Assistant Club: Special interest group for Occupational Therapy Assistant students.
Respiratory Care Club: Special interest group for Respiratory Care students.
Soccer Club: Sports club that plays other college, university, and club teams.
Student Ambassadors: The members of this club are the main representatives of Hawkeye Community College, Experience Hawkeye Visit Days, and many other special events on and off campus.
Student Senate: Hawkeye Community College student government. Members are involved in leadership, legislation, all the activities on campus, and much more.
Student American Dental Hygienists Association (SADHA): Special interest group for Dental Hygiene and Dental Assistance students.
Student Veterans of America: Special interest club for veterans and current military as well as family and friends.
Web Development Club: Club for students interested in how to develop websites.
