Student Disabilities Services

Hawkeye Community College is committed to helping students with various disabilities be successful. The college makes every effort to assure that qualified students with disabilities have equal access to all services. Eligibility for services is based on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. These regulations apply to students who have disabilities that substantially impair their ability to participate in college programs without accommodations. In order to determine if a student is eligible, documentation including medical and psychological reports and other records are examined for evidence indicating whether or not a student is disabled in the context of federal statutory definition.

Hawkeye Community College utilizes Relay Iowa, a telecommunications service providing full telephone accessibility to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, and/or speech impaired.
