The Legal Office Assistant program is designed to prepare students to be able to support the legal divisions of businesses and law firms. Students learn the same skills and knowledge required of the Executive Assistant program, as well as preparing correspondence and legal papers under the supervision of an attorney or paralegal. Students learn legal office procedures, legal transcription, legal terminology, and legal document production.
Students gain on-the-job experience at local businesses and organizations ensuring students possess the skills necessary to successfully obtain a job as a legal office assistant.
Students in the Business Department can become members of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Through the IAAP student chapter, students learn and practice leadership, teamwork, organization, and communication skills. The Victory Chapter of IAAP also awards qualifying student IAAP members scholarships each year.
The Legal Office Assistant program may be completed in two years. Students may enter in the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. This program is an option of the Executive Assistant program; students may elect to complete the Executive Assistant program by taking an additional 13 semester hours.
