The Executive Assistant program provides students with the knowledge and skills of an executive assistant. Responsibilities include coordinating, expediting, and facilitating functions of the office. The program combines lecture, laboratory work, and cooperative office education experience in developing a student's secretarial skills.
Students gain on-the-job training at local businesses and organizations ensuring students possess the skills necessary to successfully obtain a job as an executive assistant.
Students in the Business Department can become members of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). Through the IAAP student chapter students learn and practice leadership, teamwork, organization, and communication skills. The Victory Chapter of IAAP also awards qualifying student IAAP members scholarships each year.
The Executive Assistant program is 64 credit hours and can be completed in four semesters. Students may enter in the Fall or Spring semester. General education courses can be started any semester. Students have an option of taking a portion of this program and earning an Administrative Assistant diploma.
Office technology programs offer flexibility. Many courses are also required in other business programs, allowing a student to double major or transfer into a different program. Students who wish to transfer after completing this program should work closely with an academic advisor.

"The education I received from Hawkeye Community College provided an excellent foundation for a career as an executive assistant. The class sizes were small providing an opportunity for individual instruction and class cohesiveness. The faculty were knowledgeable of the field and caring. They gave me the confidence and knowledge I needed to enter into the executive assistant field and to advance to where I am today. I’m grateful to Hawkeye Community College for providing me with an opportunity for a first-rate education leading to a successful career as an executive assistant."
