The Welding program prepares students to enter into the industry as beginning production, maintenance, or job shop welders. Students are trained using the latest techniques in the fabrication of materials by welding process.
Welding continues to be one of the principle means of fabricating and repairing metal products. An independent certification laboratory evaluates each student's performance on the American Welding Society Structural Steel Bend test for possible certification before graduation.
The demand for welders is very high. Hawkeye has a unique training partnership with John Deere to train and hire individuals from this program.
Students learn welding, cutting, metallurgy, and blueprint reading and how to operate:
The Welding program is a three semester program. Students can enter the program in the Fall or Spring semester.
Hawkeye's Industrial and Engineering Technology Department has a block articulation agreement with the University of Northern Iowa Department of Industrial Technology to transfer both general education and technical credits. For more information on transferring credits, talk to a program advisor.
