Corrections Degree Requirements

Students majoring in Corrections need to complete the 40 credit hours of general education requirements for the AA degree requirements described in the Liberal Arts major and complete a minimum of 18 credit hours from the Corrections elective courses plus 4 credit hours of college elective credit.

I. HUMANITIES 9 hours (minimum)
A. WESTERN CIVILIZATION 3 hours (minimum)
B. HUMANITIES 6 hours (minimum)
    Requires courses from 2 different areas (1, 2, or 3)
  1. Literature and Fine Arts
  2. Philosophy and Religion
  3. Non-Western Cultures
II. NATURAL SCIENCE & MATHEMATICS 10 hours (minimum)
Requires one course each from A, B and C, including one 4 hour Science laboratory course. Total of 7 hrs. from A & B.
A. BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
B. PHYSICAL SCIENCES
C. MATHEMATICS (Assessment Required)
 
III. SOCIAL SCIENCES 9 hours (minimum)
Requires one course from Group A, one course from Group B, and one course from Group A, B, or C.
A. PEOPLE AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS
B. AMERICAN SOCIETY
C. OTHER GENERAL SOCIAL SCIENCES
 
IV. COMMUNICATIONS 9 hours (minimum)
A. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS (Assessment Required) 6 hours (required)
B. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 3 hours (required)
 
V. SOCIAL DIVERSITY 3 hours (minimum)
